Monkeypig

Monkeypig is a personal musical project and band that did a handful of gigs back during 2016-2017. To me it sounds like indie hard rock that draws a bit of influence from surf and punk.

“March of the Jack Boots” was a self-performed and produced album. It was published on vinyl, CD and streaming by mid-2016. It was recorded and mixed over 18 months in a home studio under my house in Kingswood Rd, Engadine.

The album had great support from local indie radio DJs and was positively reviewed. A few overseas radio shows supported it too. I was really proud of the effort and probably drove my bandmates mad at the time! I was so completely wrapped up in promoting it and playing live. But of course people have their own lives to lead.

There were two main line-ups of Monkeypig that did gigs

First line-up

Braden eventually stopped performing with the band and fellow Novacastrian Robb Ryan played a few fill-in gigs. Monkeypig then performed as a 3 piece before disbanding.

There’s quite a few partially finished songs sitting on my computer that were intended for a Monkeypig follow-up album. I’m looking forward to finishing them off and publishing them.
